A series of videos shared by pre-adolescent girls on their social media, showcasing their beauty routines, has stirred up a lot of controversy among internet users who believe that 10 and 11-year-old girls shouldn’t be using so many cosmetic products at such a young age.
Skin care routines among teenagers have truly gained popularity worldwide, thanks to the new generation of Kardashians. In January of this year, nine-year-old North West shared a clip on the account she shares with her mother, Kim Kardashian, showcasing her skincare routine to her 15 million followers.
The girl displays various products including creams and makeup, and many people criticized the clip, and Kim, for allowing it, stating that it was “disturbing” and “unnecessary for a child.” North’s cousin, 11-year-old Penelope Disick, also caused a sensation online when she shared her beauty routine; in the video posted on the page she shares with her mother Kourtney, Disick guided her followers through the step-by-step of her skincare routine.
Once again, the internet expressed opposition: “Isn’t Penelope too young for such an extensive skincare and makeup routine?” someone wrote. “I only started a skincare routine at 18 or 19. I would wash my face and moisturize when needed. Maybe I started late, but her skincare is more extensive than mine, and I’m in my 20s now,” another person responded.
